Never Give Up

"Never give up." -Mike Walling

This is from the last crit of the year, and it really resonated with me tonight. Please keep checking back for various art updates. I will have sketches and animation tests up throughout the summer.

Class 2 - Week 12 Update

So it comes to an end. It was a long and tiring process, yet in a way it flew by pretty fast. I will be taking a leave of absence this summer to help recharge, recover, and focus on home stuff. Before I say what is going on here is the latest:

New class, new title card:

My new showreel, and of course I want to tweak everything:

My dog Webby may be getting some more treatments for the cancer on her pelvis. Radiation that happened in Oct helped it shrink 60-80% and it made the weird sliver that made it inoperable disappear. We may do a hemipelvectomy which takes half the pelvis and a leg. Between full time work, the dog, other issues, and AM I am about to collapse. Hopefully I will be ready for my trip to CA for Hollywood/Disneyland next week and that will give me a boost.

Keep checking back here for things I will be creating during the summer, that will most likely include sketches, animation exercises, and I may even try my hand at 11 Second Club.

Class 2 - Week 11 Update

Wow, last animation assignment week, here it is:

As usual I feel that it isn't complete, but I may tweak it more over the summer or just plow through other exercises.

Class 2 - Week 10 Update

It has been splined! Jump and prep still need work:

Class 2 - Week 9 Update

Sorry this is late. I had done more blocking to this and had started splining and thought I would wait until I had more splined to post here. Well that didn't work out. So here is the additional blocking I did for the week, next post will have a complete spline:

So week 8 come and gone. GAH WHERE DOES THE TIME GO.

Here is my blocking of my fastpitch reference:

Here is the revision of the box jump - still could use some tweaks (gah everything could always be tweaked more!):

Class 2 - Week 7 Update

Video Reference was shot this week! I picked the throw a ball choice, I want to do the first clip in this set, but my mentor likes the second. I will have to contemplate this:

Sketches:

So my polishing shot for this week is not so polished... some things have improved, but it still needs work:

Class 2 - Week 6 Update

OMG HALFWAY THROUGH!! Time sure does fly... and yet it doesn't at the same time. Things are crazy, busy, rough all at the same time yet I'm learning a lot.

Here is my blocking plus for the week. It's basically last week's splined out with a few more details and tweaks, this coming week will be polishing as well as vid ref and planning for the final Class 2 assignment (yikes!):

End of this class I will be headed off to Hollywood and Disneyland for vacation!! It's this awesome package where you go on special tours and we even get to see WALT'S APARTMENT!! I can't wait!

Class 2 - Week 4 Update

GAHH things keep getting busier and crazier and more stressful. It's getting intense and I really want to not have to repeat this class (I just heard that this is the most repeated class, yikes!), but it is an uphill battle for sure.

So this week we had to polish our assignment as well as gather reference and sketches for our next assignment.

Here is some (yes some) of the vid ref I took (I had 11 mins before):

My sketches are horrible and I'm still unsure what I want to do:

Here is my redo, still needs work:

Week 3 Update

Here is my Blocking Plus, well more of just this version in spline. It still needs lots of work:

Class 2 Begins! Week 1

I finally made it to Class 2!!! Can you BELIEVE IT?? I still kind of can't. It's definitely very scary, pressure pressure pressure!

Haha, my new mentor is Mike Walling, he currently works for Blue Sky. Check out his IMDb here: IMDb. Just thought it was crazy, I just fell in love with Horton Hears a Who! and now I have a mentor that worked on it, pretty awesome. AND my Q&A is at a better time, not so late yayyy!

OK so this class we get about 4 weeks for each assignment. Pretty crazy, it's weird from going to 1 week freak outs to having a bit more time. Anyways, this week we had to take video reference, pick one clip and then sketch from that.

We had the option to: Kick a ball, Take a giant step to the side, or turn 180 degrees.

Here's what I took for reference:

I chose Kick #1. Here are my sketches:
